In USB terminology the host always plays the role of the master. And most terms are meant to be interpreted from the host's viewpoint. USB differentiates between the following basic transfer types:

  • IN transfer. A data transfer to the host from the target.
  • OUT transfer. A data transfer from the host to the target.
