How to import global Embedded Studio settings to version 8

This article will explain how you can port your global settings and keyboard shortcuts from Embedded Studio V7 and older to Embedded Studio v8 or later.

  • First we need to find and copy the settings file(s) from the older Embedded Studio version
  • Open Embedded Studio V7 or older
  • Go to File->Open Studio Folder...->Studio User Folder
  • Copy the File settings.xml (this contains all global settings from this Embedded Studio version). Optionally also copy the keyboards.xml (this will include all custom keyboard shortcuts you have added. If you never changed the defaults this file might not exist)
  • Locate the same folder via the same method as explained above for the newer Embedded Studio version where you want to import the settings to.
  • Place the copied xml files into this folder and overwrite existing files if necessary.
