*** To be able to install the Nordic license Embedded Studio V4.20 or newer must be used. After the license is installed it will also work for V4.18.

*** Keep in mind that the Nordic license will only be valid for Nordic Embedded Studio projects. On other projects you will still get the error message. For more information see [https://wiki.segger.com/Get_a_License_for_Nordic_Semiconductor_Devices here].

SEGGER Embedded Studio V4.18 and older had a different license condition than newer Embedded Studio versions. So if you do not have a valid Embedded Studio license you might get the error message:

Error Reported: The evaluation period for this release has now expired.

or

Unrecoverable failure: The evaluation period for this release has now expired.

Solution:

  • Use the newest Embedded Studio version.
  • Install the license with the new version.
  • After successful installation open the old version again. The evaluation period error should no longer appear.
  • If you require to use V4.18 or older a valid Embedded Studio license is required. Available license types are explained here.
    • If you are looking to work with a Nordic Semiconductor target you can also get a free license here.
