This article explains how to use SEGGER's (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator board.
Prerequisites
In order to start evaluating with the (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator Board, the following materials are needed:
- (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator board.
- Note: In order to evaluate QSPI programming, board revision A or later is needed (printing on the back says "Rev. A")
- (Q)SPI Flash soldered to the according adapter board
- Micro USB cable
- J-Link or Flasher
- 20-pin ribbon cable
- A machine running Windows, Linux or macOS with the latest version of the J-Link software package installed
Evaluating direct SPI Flash programming
Direct SPI Flash programming refers to programming the SPI Flash directly, without a CPU inbetween. For more information on direct programming, please refer to the following article: SPI Flash - Direct programming.
Evaluating direct programming can be done by following these instructions:
- Determine the Flash's operating voltage and set the evaluator board's SEL 1.8V jumper accordingly.
- Plug the Flash Adapter board into the evaluator board
- Note: Make sure that the pins of the adapter board correctly line up with the evaluator board's connector.
- Power the evaluator board using a micro USB cable
- Connect a J-Link or Flasher to the evaluator board using a 20-pin ribbon cable
- Start J-Flash SPI on the host machine that the J-Link or Flasher is connected to.
Instructions on how to use J-Flash SPI to execute direct SPI Flash programming can be found in the J-Link/ J-Trace User Guide
